1.30-4.30pm, Saturday 21 November 2026 at the New Sydney

Have you ever wondered about reading a play? Is it hard? Are they strange? Aren’t they meant to be watched? Come and discuss these juicy questions with playwright and avid play reader Emilie Collyer who will illuminate the peculiar and particular joys of reading plays. You will be sent some reading material in advance and the workshop will cover territory such as: reading plays for pleasure, reading plays critically, what makes language performative rather than literary, and a few exercises to tease out playwriting technique.
