Join us in July as Nadia Mahjouri talks with Jane Rawson about Tahar Ben Jalloun’s Impac Award-winning book, ‘This blinding absence of light‘. This 2004 ‘non-fiction novel’ brings us into the life of Salim, telling stories from a secret prison complex after a failed coup attempt in Morocco. It’s a grim tale, the Guardian says, but one that is a joy to read.
Tickets include a can of wine or mocktail and you can buy one here for $10.

Nadia Mahjouri is the author of Half Truth, published by Penguin Random House in 2025, and host of The Whole Truth: Motherhood and the Writing Life podcast, where she interviews authors about how they manage to keep creating in the messy middle of work and family life. She lives in the shadow of Kunanyi with her husband, their two school aged kids and a naughty labrador called Russell Sprout.
