6-7pm, Tuesday 28 April 2026 at Five Leaves Left, 41 Victoria St Hobart

Join us in April as local legend Richard Flanagan talks with Jane Rawson about banned Czechoslovakian author Bohumil Hrabal’s 1976 novel, Too loud a solitude, the story of a paper compacter who rescues banned books. The book is out of print and very difficult to source, but if you can track one down you’ll find it’s totally worth it!
Tickets include a can of wine or mocktail and you can buy one here for $10.

Richard Flanagan wrote a book about salmon that actually made a difference. His eight novels have received numerous honors and are published in forty-two countries. He won the Commonwealth Book Prize for Gould’s Book of Fish, the Man Booker Prize for The Narrow Road to the Deep North, and the Bailie Gifford Prize for Question 7.
